There are three layers of governance in our multi-academy Trust:

Our Members

Members’ statutory responsibilities are set out in the Articles of Association and their role includes: appointing and removing the MAT Trustees, calling an annual general meeting, appointing the MAT auditors and receiving the annual accounts and directing the Trustees to take specific actions.

The members are: The Diocesan Bishop; the Clifton Catholic Diocesan Education Foundation; the Diocesan Commissioner and the Chief Operating Officer for the Diocese.

Our Trustees

Trustees are responsible for the strategic direction and policy development for the Trust. They have governance oversight of both the Trust and its schools. Trustees take decisions that are in the best interests the MAT as a whole and are not representative of any one of the constituent schools. The Trustees are also Directors of the Academies Trust which is a company limited by guarantee and registered as such at Companies House.

Our Trustees profiles can be found here.

Local Governance Committees

Local Governance Committees operate under a Scheme of Delegation which is determined by the Trustees. Each local governance committee is responsible for monitoring the educational standards and the ethos and values in each of our academies. Local governance committees include governors who are appointed by the Diocese as well as parent governors, the headteacher and a staff governor.
