Phil King was brought up and educated in Romford, East London. He joined the Home Civil Service in London on leaving school, whilst studying Economics as an ‘external’ student at London University.

He joined Xerox Corporation in 1973 and had several project management and finance jobs in the UK and overseas before his appointment as Financial Controller of the Xerox Mitcheldean Facility.

Leaving Xerox in 1998 he worked for the Archdiocese of Cardiff as Secretary of the Diocesan Trustees and as Secretary of the Historic Churches Committee for Wales and Herefordshire.

Phil has been a governor of two schools in Hereford as well as a trustee and treasurer of the Hereford Food Bank.

Widowed, he has three adult daughters and five grandchildren, two of whom are at Catholic Schools in Manchester. He is a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary, Coleford in the Forest of Dean.
